Crime Plagued Chicago Leaves 44 Shot and 7 Dead Over the Weekend
Over the weekend, at least 44 people were shot, with 7 fatally wounded, in Chicago.
According to Breitbart News, more than 40 people had already been shot between Friday and Saturday. ABC7 and Chicago Sun-Times have reported the total figure to be at 44 by Monday morning.
The Chicago Tribune also reported that two people had died on Sunday morning at around 2:35 a.m. This came following a shooting incident on the Eisenhower Expressway which led to a crash.
Three people were in the vehicle involved in the incident when a person started shooting at them. The driver, 29, had been shot multiple times, causing the vehicle to crash. He succumbed to his injuries not long after. A passenger, 30, sitting in the backseat also died.
Lightfoot's Chicago Riddled With Crime
The website HeyJackass.com also observed that a total of 71 people have been killed as a result of gun violence in the city under Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D), while people also sustained non-fatal gunshot wounds in August 2021.
Last week, over 20 people died as a result of gun violence. According to Breitbart News, some of those victims included a 67-year-old woman, a 70-year-old woman, and a 26-year-old mother.
