Former President Donald Trump predicted that after the Russia-Ukraine crisis, a China-Taiwan standoff is up next. He said that the Asian giant would be the next superpower to flex its muscle on the world stage. This time, however, Taiwan will become the next Ukraine.

China-Taiwan Up Next After Russia-Ukraine

Trump appeared on the “The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show” recently. He said that Chinese President Xi Jinping will follow Russia’s actions against Ukraine. Additionally, he said Xi will interpret the ongoing crisis as a signal that China can take back Taiwan. “China’s going to be next,” Trump said. “Oh, absolutely. Not with me, they wouldn’t have,” he added.

Also, the former president said that China will likely move now that the Olympics is over. “They’re waiting until after the Olympics,” he said of the Chinese government. “Now the Olympics have ended, and look at your stopwatch, right? [Xi] wants that”.

Trump: Putin and Xi Are Like Twin Sisters

Trump also likened Russian President Vladimir Putin and Xi as “twin sisters”. Additionally, he said that “It’s almost like twin sisters right here, because you have one that wants Taiwan”. Trump added that Xi wants Taiwan as bad as Putin wants Ukraine. ‘Who wants it more?’ I think probably equally badly,” he noted.

Additionally, Trump blamed the administration of President Joe Biden for the disastrous turn of events in Ukraine. He said that “this never would have happened” under a Trump administration. “Putin would have never done it, and Xi would have never done it [under my administration],” he added.

Trump Praises Putin’s Leadership Style

Meanwhile, the former president also lauded Putin’s handling of the Ukraine crisis. He said that the Russian leader’s style of power is “genius”. “I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, ‘This is genius.’ Putin declares a big portion of Ukraine — Putin declares it as an independent. Oh, that’s wonderful,” Trump told a conservative podcaster last Tuesday.

However, Trump’s positive feedback on Putin showed some cracks in the Republican Party. Some party members remain loyal to a traditional foreign policy that advocates the US confronts global strongmen making aggressive moves. In contrast, Trump’s MAGA faction expresses admiration for Putin’s “effective” tactics in getting what it wants.  In fact, Trump wanted Putin’s leadership style put into practice at the US’s southern borders. “I said, ‘How smart is that?' And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. … We could use that on our southern border,” Trump said. He then described the Russian president as “a guy who’s very savvy” and whom he knows “very, very well.”

Biden’s Foreign Policy Blunders Resonating Throughout the Globe

Meanwhile, critics of the Biden administration blamed the President for the current state of geopolitics. They also pointed to Biden’s numerous foreign policy blunders, including the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal. Biden’s blunders helped authoritarian leaders feel confident to act aggressively across the world without fear of reprisal from the US.
