Comedian Tracy Morgan Defends President Trump: “It’s Difficult for Him”
The 51-year-old actor and comedian Tracy Morgan defended President Trump from critics and called for national unity as the coronavirus pandemic persists.
In a video interview on “Today,” Morgan shared about how the quarantine had been for him so far. He later praised medical staff, first responders, police, and firefighters.
“These are the good-headed people, they know what they’re doing. They’re fighting the frontlines, I love them,” said Morgan.
“I know these people, I know they work hard to take care of you,” he added. “I’m very proud of them, they’re my heroes — while we’re running out of the burning building, the firemen are running in.”
“These police officers that come out of their homes and patrol the streets, they don’t know if they’re ever going back home, so we gotta give them respect.”

Morgan also talked about President Trump – adding that “now is not the time for blame.”
“The struggle is real. Right now we're struggling. People want to criticize the president, but imagine being the president of a country and have your country got sick. So it's difficult for him,” Morgan said.
Morgan added: “We've all got to pull together as people now. Now is not the time for blame and all these other things and anger. It's here now. We just got to be together. We've got to all stay safe. Nobody wants to transmit it, nobody wants to attract it, nobody wants to get it. So let's just stay safe and do the protocol that we have to do.”
He also made sure to talk about the return of his comedy series, “The Last O.G.”
NBC anchor Hoda Kotb concluded the interview by calling Tracy’s statement a “good public service announcement.”
