Cruz Calls for DOJ Investigation Against Fauci

In an interview with Margaret Brennan from CBS News, Dr. Anthony Fauci made several comments that can only be described as absurd and highly inappropriate to be uttered by someone who’s supposedly non-partisan.

In one case, the doctor said that anyone who spins lies and threatens and all that theater that goes on with some of the investigations and the congressional committees and the Rand Pauls and all that other nonsense, that’s noise, Margaret, that’s noise.” Additionally, he also said that the Republicans who are attacking him are lying.

A while later, when asked about Republican Sen. Ted Cruz’s call for a probe against him, Fauci said that he has to “laugh at that,” asking if he should be prosecuted. He then said, “What happened on Jan. 6, senator?”

It seems that in his opinion, Sen. Cruz’s queries regarding certain aspects of the 2020 elections mean that he is innocent and Cruz himself needs to be jailed.

Cruz Fires Back vs. Fauci

As many expected, Cruz bit back with a vengeance. On Twitter, the senator slammed the doctor through a series of posts, criticizing the latter for his authoritarian tendencies, for distorting facts, and for his attitude.

Following this, Cruz added that “No amount of ad hominem insults parroting Democrat talking points will get Fauci out of this contradiction. Fauci either needs to address the substance—in detail, with specific factual corroboration—or DOJ should consider prosecuting him for making false statements to Congress.”
