Border Crisis

Cruz Slams Ocasio-Cortez and Dares Democrats to Visit Biden Cages

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) mocked Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) in connection to her visit to a migrant facility. The Republican senator then gave her and her colleagues a “simple challenge” of visiting the “Biden cages” that serve as a holding facility for migrants as the border crisis continues.

The Republican senator’s comments came while he delivered a speech on the Senate floor on Wednesday in connection to the surge of Haitian migrants in Del Rio. More than 15,000 migrants have camped under a bridge in the said city. During his speech, Cruze criticized Democrats for refusing to visit the border to see the situation in person even though they were vocal about such facilities during the previous administration.

Cruz rhetorically asked why President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris refuse to go to the Rio Grande Valley area. To this, the senator surmised that if Biden does visit, cameras will follow him, letting the public see the real situation in the area. He then noted that Democrats are suddenly counting for the mainstream media to say nothing about 15,000 Haitians staying under a bridge in Del Rio.
Ocasio-Cortez went to a West Texas facility that houses migrant children back in 2018, during the Trump administration. There, she was photographed near a fence, with her hands grasping her face seemingly upset by the situation.

She posted the images on Twitter, along with a caption that said she will “never forget this” because as she witnessed, the America she loved had allegedly turned into a nation that whisked refugee children away from their parents and caged them.
Following the publication of the said photos, many on social media criticized AOC, describing the images as “staged.” Her office, however, denied later on these accusations.
