Democrats Go Silent on ‘Uncle Tim’ Slur Thrown at Tim Scott
National Democrats seem to remain silent on the issue of left-wingers using a racial slur to target Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.). This comes following Scott’s rebuttal of President Joe Biden’s speech to Congress last Wednesday.
Many progressives have used the term “Uncle Tim” to label the senator. The said term is obviously a play on the “Uncle Tom” slur. Left-wingers have pushed the said racial attack and made it trend on Twitter for hours.
The use of this racial slur came after Scott pointed to his speech, in which he said he had faced racism from progressives.
Republicans in Congress have been outspoken in criticizing the slur. However, Democrats seem to have remained silent.
According to Fox News, it reached out to the White House and the vice president’s office for comment. However, neither responded to it. It also reached out to the Democratic leadership in Congress, and even activist groups like BLM and the NAACP, but none gave a response.
On Thursday, Scott said liberals should not be surprised by “backlash” from Republicans for the slur. The senator also said that Democrats would suffer consequences for their “liberal oppression” eventually.
According to Fox News, Twitter eventually blocked the term “Uncle Tim” on its trending page.
