Sen. Dianne Feinstein is pushing back against questions about her ability to serve despite her advanced age.

Multiple reports quote anonymous colleagues as asking if Feinstein can still work effectively as a senator. The octogenarian insisted that her record shows she still has the political chops to get the job done.

In a statement issued by her office, Dianne Feinstein said she remains mentally capable of the job. “I remain committed to do what I said I would when I was re-elected in 2018: fight for Californians,” she said.

Feinstein reiterated her focus on the “economy and the key issues for California of water and fire”.

Dianne Feinstein Will Put Up Her Record Against Anyone’s

Dianne Feinstein admitted that she spent the past year focusing on her late husband’s health and ultimate passing.

However, she remains committed to achieving results. In fact, she’s willing to “put my record up against anyone’s.”

In the last few months, the California senator said she completed a lot of work for her constituents. She recently led the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act.

In addition, she secured additional funding for federal firefighters. This will help California prepare for the upcoming wildfire season.

“The real question is whether I’m still an effective representative for 40 million Californians, and the record shows that I am,” she said.

Reports Say Dianne Feinstein Unable to Cope With Demands of the Job

The San Francisco Chronicle recently came out with a report that questioned Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s continued stay in public office.

The story cited four anonymous senators, including three fellow Democrats, and three former staffers. They said that the Democrat senator’s memory is rapidly deteriorating.

In addition, they also said that Feinstein is having trouble keeping up with conversations. In fact, one California Democrat said they had to reintroduce themselves several times to her. As a result, her staff is doing most of the work.

Dianne Feinstein is now the Senate’s oldest sitting lawmaker, having held her seat since 1992. She is not up for reelection until 2024.

Apart from Feinstein, Democrats are also contending with a near-octogenarian, President Joe Biden, who earned the nickname “Sleepy Joe”.

Administration officials often scramble after 79-year-old Biden’s press conferences to clarify some of his inconsistent statements.

During his recent State of the Nation press conference, Biden rambled incoherently about the “good ol’ days”. Already, Democrats are showing concern if they should field Biden for reelection. By 2024, the President will be 82 years old.
