Rodrigo Duterte, known as the Donald Trump of the Philippines, has won the election for president.
An outspoken man, Duterte’s words have excited crowds around the Philippines and left his critics in shock.
Duterte, who was already a long-serving mayor, has admitted to personally killing at least three people. He has defended the raping of an Austrailian woman during a prison riot and even went as far as to say he should have been first in line, and he has called for the killings of anyone who does drugs. Yet, he is a favorite among many who are sick and tired of the corruption they see in their government.
His critics have warned that he will undermine the countries democracy and return the Phillippines to a military dictatorship.
Despite all of this, Duterte won with a majority and the average citizen seems pretty happy about it.
This could be viewed as a sign of a global shift in power to outsiders who spout hard-hitting rhetoric such as Donald Trump and may be a signal that the American thought process is more in line with Trump then the mainstream media would have you believe.

In any case, the people of the Phillippines have spoken and they have who they wanted in office. Only time will tell if it is for the positive or negative.
