The House Oversight Committee has set its first impeachment inquiry hearing into President Joe Biden for Thursday, September 28, Breitbart News reports.

“The hearing will focus on constitutional and legal questions surrounding the president’s involvement in corruption and abuse of public office,” a spokesperson told Breitbart News.

The committee plans to subpoena Hunter Biden and James Biden's bank records in addition to the hearing, the spokesperson added, also revealing that this may happen as soon as this week.

In February, the committee requested bank records and correspondence, but Hunter Biden refused, claiming the requests lacked “legitimate legislative and oversight basis.”

Since the committee's inquiry began in November 2022, it has openly threatened to summon the Bidens. Subpoenas were not issued right away because the committee insisted on exercising prudence in order to “show good faith.”

The period of “good faith” compliance with the probe appears to have expired when House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) launched an impeachment investigation into Joe Biden, giving House investigators more legal leverage to compel the Bidens to cooperate.

According to Reuters polling, 41 percent of respondents support an impeachment investigation, while 35 percent disagree. 24 percent are uncertain.

According to a YouGov/CBS News poll released on Monday, 50% of independent voters think House Republicans should remove President Joe Biden from office.

According to a recent CNN poll, 61% of Americans think Joe Biden was involved in his family's business dealings with China and Ukraine. Just 38% of respondents deny Joe Biden's involvement, and only 1% believe he was involved but did nothing wrong.
