The White House has unveiled this year's holiday decorations of white, gold and sparkling crystal, with accents marking “patriotism” as the theme, even as its inhabitant battles an impeachment inquiry.

President  and First Lady Melania  invited photographers and journalists in on Monday morning to look at the glittering display.

In a video she tweeted out late Sunday, First Lady Melania  opened numbered windows on a model of the White House. The décor-debuting video features her clad in a white cloak, sauntering among the trees, adjusting ornaments, sprinkling white powder onto bedecked branches.

The camera pans over Scrabble letters spelling out “Be Best,” the First Lady's much-maligned motto, and an array of gold pine cones, the Presidential seal, an American flag, and pots upon pots of paperwhite narcissus flowers.

“‘The Spirit of America' is shining in the White House!” she tweeted, along with the video. “I am delighted to share this beautiful exhibit of patriotism for all to see, and excited for everyone to experience the beauty of the Christmas season!”

Last year the décor was ridiculed for a hallway full of blood-red trees that reminded many of The Handmaid's Tale. This year the only blood red is relegated to the roses adorning the mantle, and there is no trace of last year's alleged creepiness.

White, gold and crystal rule the day this time, in what USA Today noted were “more traditional” decorations such as green Christmas trees, accented with red ornaments and blue bows for a dash of patriotism, and a nativity scene, USA Today said.

There was also a gingerbread White House, as well as iconic American landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty, the Golden Gate Bridge and Mount Rushmore, the Associated Press said. The display was crafted by more than 225 volunteers who flew in from around the country to help decorate over Thanksgiving weekend, AP reported.

“It is with great joy that our family welcomes you to the White House this holiday season as we celebrate the Spirit of America,” President , the first lady and their son, Barron, said in the signed introduction to a souvenir book that will be given to visitors as a holiday keepsake, according to AP. “We hope you enjoy our tribute to the traditions, customs and history that make our nation great.”
