A “good guy with a gun” managed to prevent what could have been a terrible mass killing last weekend by using his firearm to stop a massacre suspect.
According to authorities, Zachary Arnold, 26, who resides at the apartment complex in Forth Smith, Arkansas where the incident took place, was just outside the said building on Saturday. On that morning, he started screaming for his fellow residents to come outside.
Arnold, who had a rifle with him, was first met by Lois Hicks, his 87-year-old neighbor.
One of the witnesses told the authorities that Hicks, along with another elderly woman, came out to “console” the other man when Arnold opened fire.
After fatally shooting the elderly man, Arnold continued to fire his rifle, trying to make other residents come out of their homes.
One neighbor, however, got his own rifle and bravely went out of his home to stop Arnold. The unnamed neighbor fatally shot Arnold, putting a stop to what could have been a mass killing.
