  • An online petition has been started to allow guns to be carried inside the Republican National Convention in Cleaveland.
  • Dispite Ohio being an open carry state, the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleaveland dones not allow guns inside.
  • Dispite the online push to override the no-gun policy the Secret Service has refused to budge.
  • The online petition already has 45,933 signitures.

An online push to override a no-gun policy at this summer’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland was denied Monday by the Secret Service.

The petition at Change.org, which had a 50,000-signature goal, has seen support balloon to more than 45,933 by Monday afternoon.

While people are allowed to legally carry firearms in Ohio, the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland – the venue of the RNC convention – does not allow guns inside.

The Secret Service, which is in charge of protecting the presidential candidates, said only law enforcement personnel would be allowed to carry firearms at the event.

“Title 18 United States Code Sections 3056 and 1752 provides the Secret Service authority to preclude firearms from entering sites visited by our protectees, including those located in open-carry states,” Secret Service spokesman Robert K. Hoback said in a written statement. “Only authorized law enforcement personnel working in conjunction with the Secret Service for a particular event may carry a firearm inside of the protected site.”

The petition was started anonymously a week ago.

It called for five points of action: a suspension of the no-guns policy at the Quicken Loans Arena; from the NRA — “an immediate condemnation” of the policy; from Ohio Gov. John Kasich, a “concerted effort to use his executive authority to override the no-firearm policy;” from RNC Chairman Reince Priebus — “an explanation of how a venue so unfriendly to Second Amendment rights was chosen for the Republican Convention; and finally, from the Republican 2016 candidates themselves — a personal plea to the RNC “to rectify this affront to our Second Amendment freedoms insist upon a suspension of the Quicken Loans Arena’s unconstitutional ‘gun-free zone’ loophole.”

There should be NO gun free zones period!!! We have the 2nd amendment right to carry firearms… plain and simple.

  • Jim Mailhot says:

I don’t care what state you are in, the secret service will not allow guns near a candidate. You are picking the wrong battle to fight. I would prefer you concentrate on universal recognition of carry permits.

  • R.olson says:

    “…shall not be infringed.”

  • Dave Jordan says:

Gun free zones have been proven time and again to be nothing but safe zones for criminals and crazies. They are one of the worst ideas to ever come out.

  • Robert J Murphy says:

I disagree with this decision. It’s just not right. Nobody is going to get hurt with a bunch of law abiding gun owners citizens there. Right out of the FBI vital Statistics book.

  • Paul Betts says:

The RNC should be boycotted. Trump should pull out now and launch an Independent run. I think Cruz should organize his own TEA Party candidacy. Let Kasich have fun in his home state gun-free zone GOP Convention. Absolute Rights must be upheld ABSOLUTELY!!

  • Becky Spangler says:

Any “gun-free” zone says nothing except that no one can protect themselves in this building. Why would you be so stupid? You might as well put up a sign that says, “Come shoot us. We are helpless.”

  • William Slattery says:

Gun free zones just make a huge target for the bad guys to make a big news flash about them selves. Gun free zones are the most dangerous place in the world. This is BULL SHIT in our faces.

  • Roger Wendell says:

What a bunch of hpocrites!! If the GOP truly supports the 2nd Ammendment, then prove it. Virtually all mass shootings occur in gun free zones. There should not be ANY gun free zones in thiscountr.

  • fred smith says:

the secret service should have to follow the us constitution rather than take people’s fingernail files, pen knives, guns which are properly documented, etc. the most unsafe area in this country are “gun-free zones.”

  • Name says:

Gun free zones are an invite to individuals who will sieze the opportunity to prey on the un-armed citizens. Proven again, and again. The GOP might as well have Hillary join Trump on stage.

  • Eugene Kapinos says:

Consider this; with all the disruption caused by the free-riding freeloaders that have been inciting violence at the Trump rallies do we really want them to be able to get near Mr. Trump with a weapon.

    Refer:
“A Donald Trump rally took a dramatic turn Saturday when a thug Named Tom Dimassimo (details below) tried to rush the state behind the GOP frontrunner. Secret Service agents tackled Dimassimo and simultaneously formed a wall around Donald Trump”
    http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2016/03/12/shock-video-attempted-physical-attack-on-donald-trump-in-ohio-thwarted-by-secret-service-suspect-identified/

Imagine what could have happened if Dimassimo had been allowed in the area with a weapon.
I don’t believe in “Target Rich Zones” and avoid them as much as possible, but unless you can vet everyone going through the door this should be handled like Trump says the “Muslim Refugees” should be handled.

  • Charles Khulenberg Jr says:

    The 2nd Amendment

  • Willis Cooke says:

Perhaps the RNC hopes for a Muslim assassination of a candidate? Maybe of the Republican Establishment? Certainly they are not afraid of action by armed Patriots! I will continue to spend on guns and ammo rather than fund the RNC!

  • Alfred says:

    Not looking good

  • Rich says:

GOP is historically conservative and backs the 2nd Amendment. So banning guns will be exactly what they preach against. If there is so much disagreement that they think guns would be an issue then they better change their points of disagreement. There are way too many Liberals in the GOP Ranks now. We need not have more. Fire arms are designated by the constitution as legal for any and all citizens. Just remove those who are not legal citizens and all should go well!!!

  • Dale Ewing says:

Sorry, but there are too many crazy’s that would love to make a statement by shooting candidates.

  • James Wilson says:

There should be no gun free zones anywhere for the legal carry of firearms for anyone that can legally own a firearm.

  • Tom Eckonen says:

If we are going to be all in for the 2nd amendment lets prove it. I for one am against gun free zones.

  • Mark Andrews says:

Gun owners should be free to fire away at the republican convention. Killing others is a god given right.

  • William L says:

I think of years past when there were no , I mean NO gun free zones. Everyone who were able to pick one up could carry it and use it at will until they decided to to use it for less than noble purposes. These purposes were determined by the people of the town and supported by the local Sheriff. When the local saloon decided to have ALL patrons check their guns at the door it was supported by the community and the local Sheriff. Why? The local saloon was demonstrated to be a place where common sense DID NOT PREVAIL.. Fast forward to present time. The Republican National Convention is an arena where common sense DOES NOT PREVAIL. This has been declared by at least one candidate and his supporters. The owner of the venue has declared that ALL patrons have to check their guns at the door and it should be supported by the local Sheriff (Police Department) and if the community has any common sense left, by the community also. Guns in the hands of a bunch of hotheads results in unnecessary bloodshed. This has been proven over and over through the history of this United States. Final Note: if the local sheriff (Police and FBI) declare the arena an open carry venue then the rights of the owner of the venue have been trampled by the MOB. MOB rule is chaos. That’s why we even have the delegate process to begin with. WLB

  • Gary Hassell says:

    The second amendment.

  • Mark Bachman says:

The GOP pretends to be the second amendment party while infringing unconstitutionally upon those very rights.

  • Ron Estell says:

It is an invitation to terrorist and wackos. If licensed conceal carry Republicans can’t carry at the convention, it demonstrates that the leaders are out of touch with reality and it’s members.

  • June says:

We have a right to own guns. just not the crazies!

  • Jeffrey Sparer says:

One should be allowed to carry (whether open or concealed) to defend themselves and others, PERIOD.

  • Dennis Beaman says:

Are you kidding me? With emotions running wild during this convention and the possibility of some “back room” agreements, anything is possible and I would not want to be in a room full of fanatics with guns, legal or not.

  • Jeff Dinkins says:

The RNC should have it’s convention at a gun-friendly stadium instead of spending the money at an anti-gun one.

  • Red says:

Since ALL federal gun laws are unconstitutional, why are they being forced on the people? Gun free zones are licenses for violators to kill people.

  • Deborah says:

I support the 2nd Amendment, however, in this case I believe the only guns allowed in the RNC should be the Secret Service. Let them do their job protecting every person at that event, including the candidates; one may very well be our next POTUS. No guns please…….

  • Gregory J Kuhl says:

How many more “gun free zones” , with Americans being sitting ducks do we need before the braindead liberal voters will wake up out of their communist brainwashed stupor? Save the 1st Amendment, the ones who exsorcise it, and our next President Trump!!

  • Howleyesque says:

Folks I’m as pro 2A as anyone but, what you need to know is that this was vetoed by the Secret Service and for good reason. IF it was your job to protect these candidates you wouldn’t want ANYONE other than SS agents walking around with guns either. It would be an entirely different matter if we were talking about an UNPROTECTED gun free zone. THAT is NOT the case in this situation.

  • Roger Druckman DDS says:

Carrying a weapon is a Constitutional Right and the more people that carry weapons the safer everyone will be. It’s when there are gun free zones that the criminals are not afraid to use a weapon. In a location where anyone and everyone can be carrying a weapon criminals will not dare to initiate any type of criminal behavior for fear of them paying with their own lives. It is EXACTLY where there is gun control that gun crime is the highest. This is not rocket science, criminals want to commit crimes and get away, they don’t want to get shot by a good guy carrying a gun.

  • Ev Milton says:

    Support ammendment 2

  • Rebecca says:

I don’t want Trump getting shot.

  • Woo Study says:

wow keep sharing these type of information i like it very much keep it up.
