Herschel Walker Concedes 2022 Georgia Senate Race
On Tuesday, GOP nominee Herschel Walker conceded the Georgia Senate runoff election to Democrat Sen. Raphael Warnock.
Walker said, “I want you to believe in America and continue to believe in the Constitution and believe in our elected officials most of all. I’m never gonna stop fighting for Georgia.”
“There’s no excuses in life, and I’m not going to make any excuses now, because we put up one heck of a fight,” he went on to say.
Walker did not talk about Warnock during his speech.
“I want to thank all of you as well,” he also mentioned. “Because we’ve been through a tough journey, have we not?”
“But the best thing I‘ve ever done in my whole entire life is to run for this Senate seat right here,” the Republican candidate stated.
Walker lost Georga’s runoff election to Warnock. The difference in votes was just under 100,000 votes (48.6 – 51.7 percent). The race was called by the Associated Press on Tuesday night at around 10:30.
Both men fell short of the 50% level required to avoid a runoff in the November midterm elections. After all of the ballots were tallied, a runoff election was called, with Walker trailing by 35,000 votes (48.49 – 49.44 percent).
