Cindy McCain, widow of 2008 Republican presidential nominee Senator John McCain, reacted to recent happenings in Washington D.C. McCain says the country needs her late husband “more than ever.”
In an appearance on CNN’s Axe Files, Cindy McCain was asked by David Axelrod, a former strategist for President Barack Obama, what her husband would be saying right now. McCain said he would be “disgusted with some of the stuff that’s going on.” She adds that she is not seeing a real rudder in the Senate right now. Axelrod asked McCain why she thinks that is as “it seems like there’s this sort of reign of terror about taking on the president and criticizing him.”

McCain responded that it has to do with re-elections. “I’m not being critical, because I understand what it means to get re-elected. But, at some point, you have to do what you were elected to do — and that was represent the country as well as your local people,” McCain says. She adds that her husband would be terribly upset and wishes he was here. “We need him more than ever. We really do,” she added.
In another clip, when asked about Joe Biden, McCain tells Axelrod “he is a lovely man.” Despite their different political views, their friendship “goes way beyond that.” McCain adds that she was disappointed with Trump’s attacks on Biden and his son. She said yes when Axelrod asked if she would “vouch for Biden’s integrity.”
