Kamala heads to L.A. after being around Infected Staffer
In the late evening hours of Wednesday, Vice President Kamala Harris went to Los Angeles after spending a day with a staff member who later tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement, Chief Spokesperson Symone Sanders told reporters that the staff member who spent Tuesday with the vice president tested positive for the disease on Wednesday.
Kamala Tests Negative for Coronavirus
Harris took both an antigen and a PCR test on Wednesday morning and tested negative for the coronavirus.
“She will be tested again on Friday then again on Monday per CDC guidance,” Sanders said in the statement.
Harris, along with her husband Dog Emhoff, will stay in L.A. until after the New Year.
The vice president’s brush with COVID-19 comes after she admitted during an interview with the Los Angeles Times that the delta and omicron variants’ emergence caught them off guard.
“We didn’t see delta coming. I think most scientists did not — upon whose advice and direction we have relied — didn’t see delta coming,” Harris stated during the interview. She added, “We didn’t see omicron coming. And that’s the nature of what this, this awful virus has been, which as it turns out, has mutations and variants.”
