  • Almost one million illegal aliens are still sitting inside the United States “waiting” to be deported.
  • Jason Chaffetz, the Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, is outraged and confront the Deputy Director of ICE, Daniel Ragsdale, about the issue.
  • Ragsdale's response was filled with political excellence as he skated over giving any form of real answer.

Republican lawmakers are outraged by the almost one million illegal immigrants that, even though they have their final orders to be deported, remain in the United States.

However, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency is excusing the facts and claiming the long wait is all a part of the process.

On Thursday, Jason Chaffetz, the Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee confronted the Deputy Director of ICE, Daniel Ragsdale, on the matter. Chaffetz pushed him for answers on why the 953,507 illegal aliens, who have final orders of removal, have not been deported by the government.

Ragsdale replied, “Sir, I believe that is a number that is an aggregate number over many many years, it is folks we consider under docket control that has seen either immigration judges or have filed federal appeals. I would again, suggest that number includes people under docket control. Some of those people may have, in fact, withholding of removal. It may very well be accurate,” Ragsdale said. “What I am suggesting is that number does not mean every single one of these people are amenable to removal as of right now. In other words, someone who may be [from] a country, of let’s say Syria, where they have a criminal record and could not get asylum, they still might be granted a different form of protection, they would be included in that number.”

No matter what Ragsdale's explanation was, it was apparent that Chaffetz was not impressed by his answer. The truth of the matter is, we are spending taxpayers dollars to keep the almost one million illegal aliens inside the United States. We all understand that the government wants to be diplomatic about the issue, but sometimes… being strong is better than being liked.
