Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump threatened Sunday to sue Ted Cruz over potentially claiming more Louisiana delegates in a state he technically won.

“Just to show you how unfair Republican primary politics can be, I won the State of Louisiana and get fewer delegates than Cruz-Lawsuit coming,” Trump tweeted Sunday afternoon.

In the Louisiana primary March 5, Trump won with more votes compared to Cruz. Trump won the popular vote, 124,818 votes to 113,949 for Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio tallied 33,805 votes — having since dropped out of the race — and Ohio Gov. John Kasich had 19,355.

Originally, Trump and Cruz each got 18 delegates, with five going to Rubio.

But as the Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week, Cruz may wind up with as many as 10 more delegates from the state than the Trump due to out-organizing Trump in the state in the wake of the primary, when the identity of delegates remains to be determined.

WSJ also reported that Cruz's supporters “also seized five of Louisiana's six slots on the three powerful committees that will write the rules and platform at the Republican National Convention and mediate disputes over delegates' eligibility this summer in Cleveland.”

Trump doesn’t seem to think he needs to do anything to gain delegates other than win the popular vote. He really needs to do his homework and understand just how someone wins delegates and the nomination. Hint: It is not by popular vote. That is not how the Constitution was set up for voting.

Do your homework, Donald J. Trump: 739 delegates, Ted Cruz: 465 delegates, to date.
Cruz is melting down, and Trump will reach the, 1,237 delegates needed for the nomination. HRC and the Dems, are worried, very worried.

  • Donald says:

Are you kidding? This is ridiculously scary. Ted Cruz is the only one in the race that has a chance of saving this marvelous country. Wake up America, DT is only worried about DT. Open your eyes people, he is a tyrant waiting to get total power. I fear the Republic is finished.
