Woods Suffer Serious Leg Injuries After Crash
Anish Mahajan, the chief medical officer and interim CEO of the hospital where Woods is recovering, also released a statement. in it, he said the golfer sustained multiple open fractures. These affected the upper and lower sections of Woods’ right tibia and fibula. These are the two main bones located in a person’s lower leg. Mahajan added that they had managed to stabilize the bones by “inserting a rod into the tibia.”
The golfer also sustained injuries to his muscles and soft tissues located on his leg. According to Mahajan’s statement, doctors needed to release “the covering of the muscles” so that they can “relieve pressure due to swelling.”
Mahajan’s statement did not mention injuries that Woods suffered on his left leg. Although, Los Angeles Country Fire Department Chief Daryl Osby said he believes both of the golfer’s legs suffered serious injuries in the crash.
According to Authorities, Wood’s car rolled over multiple times after it struck the median on Hawthorne Boulevard. According to Carlo Gonzalez, the first officer from LA County’s Sheriff’s Department who arrived on the scene, the area is “one of our trouble spots” as it is where speeding and related accidents happen.
Woods was in Los Angeles to attend the Genesis Invitational at the Riviera Country Club. The golfer did not take part in the tournament as he was recovering from back surgery. However, he attended to present the trophy to whoever wins.
