An unfortunate occurrence happened amid panicked shoppers around the world hoarding toilet paper due to the coronavirus outbreak.

On Friday, a semi-trailer carrying toilet paper caught fire on a highway in southeast Australia. “Firefighters were able to save the prime mover and first trailer, but not the B trailer that was carrying a load of toilet paper,” said Fox News.

Canberra Times reported that the trailer was destroyed on the Hume Highway in the NSW Riverina. “It is unclear how much toilet paper it was transporting at the time, or where it was being transported to. Crews from the Jugiong, Berremangra and Coolac Brigades joined Fire and Rescue units from Yass and Gundagai around 5am,” said the report.

This is not the first time this month that an Australian truck has caught fire. A semi-trailer, also carrying toilet paper, caught fire in Brisbane on March 4th.

“This is not overly common, particularly around the city areas but the main thing is no-one got hurt tonight and we've been able to save quite a lot of toilet paper,” fire officer Justin Francis said following the March 4 incident.

“There was quite an interesting fuel load on this particular vehicle as we believe toilet paper is quite precious at the moment, so we've been able to save half the load on this particular truck,” he added.
