Former President Donald Trump plans to accept an invitation to visit the southern border himself and see the situation in the area while slamming Biden and Harris for their inaction. He says it’s something the country’s “duly elected” officials are refusing to do.
In a statement, Trump said he has accepted Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s invitation to join him on visiting the Southern Border. The said visit will fall on Wednesday, June 30, 2021.
The former president added that the current administration “inherited” from him “the strongest, safest, and most secure border” in the history of the country. In just weeks, they managed to make it the “single worst border crisis in U.S. history,” he added. He described the border as “an unmitigated disaster zone.”
He added in his statement that the country used to do detain and remove illegal immigrants. Now, instead of that, it became catch and release. He reiterated that the country went from having border security other nations would want to have. Now, it’s one that countries around the world pity.
Trump then slammed President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on their handling – or lack thereof – of the situation at the border. He said that both Biden and Harris gave control of the U.S. border to cartels and criminals. Trump added that bad people such as drug dealers, gangs and smugglers “now have free reign” in the area.
The former president added that “hospitals and schools are getting crushed” because of the crisis. Also, public health is also falling apart just to please the radical left’s anti-border agenda. He continued to say that border agents and ICE officers have been illegally forced to stop doing their jobs. Now, he said the country has become a giant sanctuary. It has become a place where even criminals can roam freely in the interior “on a daily basis.”
He then pointed out that Biden and Harris continue to refuse to visit the scene of the crisis they created. They also refuse to just visit the Border Patrol agents and ICE personnel trying to defend the country. Trump noted that the White House has kept on trying to make doing their jobs nearly impossible.
The former president concluded that what Biden and Harris are doing with regards to the border can be considered a “grave and willful dereliction of duty.” He then said he hopes his visit would put a focus on the “crimes” against the country. He also said it hopes it would show ICE and Border Patrol personnel that they have support.
