Over the Weekend, Pres. Donald Trump told Yahoo News in an interview that he would defeat Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in a presidential primary matchup for 2024.
“If I faced him, I’d beat him like I would beat everyone else,” Trump said, adding that “I don’t think I will face him. I think most people would drop out, I think he would drop out.”
Trump said these comments in response to a straw poll conducted at the Western Conservative Summit, which found that those surveyed preferred DeSantis as the 2024 candidate over the former president.
A number of Republicans became upset after the former president gave an interview with the said news publication as Yahoo News is left-leaning.
Meanwhile, DeSantis’ popularity seems to have gone up among the conservatives in America as he puts emphasis on governing and protecting the rights of Florida citizens while the COVID-19 pandemic continues. He has also become a key figure in going head to head against the Biden administration in connection to several issues, such as illegal immigration.
