Witch Hunt Continues as New York Announces “Criminal Investigation” on Trump
The witch hunt against former President Donald Trump continues as the next phase is fully underway. This comes following the announcement of a criminal investigation into the way he runs his business.
New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office released a statement on Tuesday, saying that the ongoing civil investigation of the Trump organization has been elevated to a “criminal capacity.” This follows a major escalation that may complicate a possible 2024 presidential election run for the former president.
As per spokesperson Fabian Levy, they have informed the Trump Organization about the investigation not being purely civil anymore. Levy added that their office, as well as the Manhattan DA, have started probing into this in a criminal capacity.
The move appears to be some sort of political persecution, as both James and Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance Jr. are Democrats who have higher political aspirations.
This announcement comes as the former president has proven that he has control over the Republican Party following the ouster that booted Liz Cheney out of her House leadership position.
Witch Hunt Aims to Sabotage Trump and Stop Him From Running in 2024
Similar to the investigation into the Russian collusion hoax headed by special counsel Robert Mueller, the criminal probe in New York looks to be another push to politically sabotage Trump by weaponizing the courts and the legal system.
The goal is to stop Trump from becoming president once more. Andrew Weismann, an MSNBC legal analyst who was part of Mueller’s team, aired some speculation about the matter. He said the indictment in New York could force Trump to stay in Florida. This would also stop him from going back to D.C.
He speculated that this happens in many foreign countries regularly. In those cases, people become imprisoned in a country. In this case, he says Trump would be the one imprisoned in Florida.
He added that if Trump went overseas or to another state, he would have to follow those laws. So, in the end, the former president would have no choice but to stay in Florida. Weissman added that, given this case, if Trump tried to run for president, he wouldn’t be able to inhabit the White House in D.C. as papers seeking his extradition to New York would exist.
