Sen. Elizabeth Warren said she “plans to be the last person elected president by the Electoral College,” as reported by Washington Free Beacon.

“I want to get rid of it, so here's my goal: my goal is to get elected and then to be the last American president elected by the Electoral College. I want the second term to be that I got elected by direct vote,” said Warren. “Call me old-fashioned, but I think the person who gets the most votes should win,” she added. Most of the Democratic presidential candidates showed support for abolishing the Electoral College.

Abolishing the Electoral College would require a constitutional amendment. According to Washington Times, the “Get Rid of the Electoral College” section of her campaign website “provides little in the way of details on how she plans to move forward with such a proposal if elected.”

The Electoral College is there to make sure that ALL states have say in an election. IF it was not there BIG populations centers would govern the USA. Example, the 2016 map of who voted where. Hillary got the votes from big cities, Trump got the people of the USA.

      Good luck with that…

I pray they never get rid of the electoral college. It was made so the large populated states could not control our government. The democrats just can’t stand it they won the popular vote and not the electoral vote . We have a President who has done more for our country and given us our #1 standing in the world again. How can people be so bind. I have thought for a long time this country should be run by a business an and not a politician. Most politicians s may be honest when they go into office but why are they millionaires when they leave?

People need to read why the Electoral College exists and what it does. Ms. Warren will not be elected if she continues to usurp power from the entire nation. Think of it like this, one block of homes gets to vote on whether or not their street is turned into a circus. 10 people live in one house (they all work for the circus) and 2 people each live in the other 4 houses. That one household of clowns can vote to turn the street into a circus regardless of what the neighbors want or how it will affect them.

If the electoral college were eliminated California, Texas and Florida have 49% of the population and if you add in New York these 4 states would rule America and the other 46 would have little to say about who was president. There have only been 5 presidents of 45 presidents that did not have the majority of the popular vote. The number of popular vote for these 5 men lost by from 90,000 to 2.8 million, 2.8 million sounds like a lot but it’s less than 1% of the population, so when Trump lost by 2.8 million vote you would have 9 states, as near as I can find, that would be deciding who was going to be president the other 41 state would have no say. To me this doesn’t sound equitable and it didn’t to the founders of the USA either, hence electoral college. Look at history it says the electoral college is pretty fair.

Electoral college was established so that every state is given representation. If what warren wants to do is actually done, the election process would be eliminated and only a few states would have the say as to who rules. I don’t see her having the power to eliminate or abolish that.
