On Thursday night, a federal fugitive task force moved in to arrest Michael Reinoehl, 48, in connection to an August 29 shooting in Portland. An Antifa protester, Reinoehl reportedly pulled a gun on the officers. The officers then shot and killed him in response. A senior Justice Department official confirmed his death.
The Portland police had issued a murder warrant for Reinoehl. It happened after videos showed a man that looked like him, shoot and kill 39-year old Aaron “Jay” Danielson. Danielson was wearing a “Patriot Prayer” hat, and protecting a caravan of Trump supporters. He was armed with a knife and a paintball gun.
Reinoehl admitted in an interview with journalist Donovan Farley that he had indeed fired his weapon at a protest that weekend.
“I was confident that I did not hit anyone innocent and I made my exit,” he said.
Reinoehl Was a Frequent Antifa Protester
Portland has seen nightly unrest since the May 25 death of George Floyd. Reinoehl was a frequent participant in the protests and riots. He engaged in violent and aggressive behavior on a regular basis.
In July, Reinoehl suffered a gunshot wound while trying to wrestle a gun away from a stranger.
He was cited for allegedly carrying a loaded gun to a protest on July 5, The Oregonian reported.
Additionally, on July 26, he suffered a wound in a brawl in a downtown Portland park.
Also, Reinoehl, who is the father to 2 children, was vocal about his Antifa beliefs online.
“Every Revolution needs people that are willing and ready to fight,” he allegedly wrote, according to The Oregonian. “There are so many of us protesters that are just protesting without a clue of where that will lead. That’s just the beginning that’s that where the fight starts. If that’s as far as you can take it, thank you for your participation but please stand aside and support the ones that are willing to fight. I am 100 % ANTIFA all the way! I am willing to fight for my brothers and sisters! … We do not want violence but we will not run from it either! … Today’s protesters and antifa are my brothers in arms.”
Portland Intolerant of Conservative Views

Portland has gained notoriety for its strong support of the BLM movement, police defunding, and Socialist policies. Antifa protester crowds have dominated the streets for months. After that, the “Trump 2020 Cruise Rally in Portland” was an opportunity for supporters of President Trump and Blue Lives Matter to express themselves as well.
Counterprotesters quickly met the Trump caravan; the two groups clashed and the encounters escalated into violence. It appears that in Portland, people only tolerate one view: one of anarchy and extremism.
Friends of Danielson insist that he was neither an agitator or a radical. They say he's just a “freedom-loving American.” His ex-girlfriend said that he was troubled by the protests in Portland. “He didn’t think it was right. … He was there for peace.”
The Patriot Prayer group started with the intention of encouraging Freedom of Speech for Conservatives throughout predominantly liberal areas on the West Coast. They are against big government.
President Trump felt anxious for the authorities to make an arrest in the Danielson murder. He tweeted his frustration about the delay around the time that Reinoehl was reportedly shot and killed.
