Over 15 months following the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the top officer of the U.S. Military claims that the evidence remains “inconclusive” as to its origins. However, a “cover-up” done by the Chinese government does not help in finding the answer.
On Wednesday, Gen. Mark Milley, who serves as the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, shared his opinion with Fox News. Particularly, the news outlet asked Milley if his view changed from more than a year ago. Back then, he claimed that they lean more on the theory that COVID-19’s beginnings were natural.
Milley said his opinion remains the same since he has yet to see any piece of evidence that would say otherwise. However, he said it’s also “inconclusive”
According to the general, the world still does not know where the virus came from because the Chinese communist government has been covering it up. Nevertheless, he said that they should investigate it.
Earlier, also on Wednesday, President Joe Biden mentioned that U.S. intelligence has been weighing two likely scenarios: it either came from an animal that infected a human, or it leaked accidentally from a Wuhan laboratory.
According to Nicholas Wade, a former New York Times science section staff writer, the Chinese government “heavily controlled” the World Health Organization commission assigned to China to investigate. He also said he doubts the virus spread in a natural way. However, Wade admitted that no evidence has been found to reach a definitive conclusion.
