Democrats’ Hypocrisy Over COVID Shutdowns on Full Display

In March, when our state economies closed abruptly in response to the COVID “pandemic,” we were repeatedly told that “we are all in this together.” Politicians made a show of wearing masks and practicing social distancing. Celebrities and influencers were paid to promote stay-at-home orders. They were paid to promote the importance of taking care of each other, of our “most vulnerable,” especially. We accepted the shuttering of our businesses, schools, parks, and places of worship. We canceled weddings, funerals, vacations, and holidays.

Now, the hypocrisy of Democratic leaders is on full display, capped off by Nancy Pelosi’s Monday visit to a San Francisco beauty salon for a wash and blow-out. While Pelosi’s transgression may be among the most offensive, she is certainly not alone in prioritizing her needs and wants over those of her constituents.

Pelosi Is Only One Offender

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is clearly visible on security cameras at a San Francisco salon. She is seen walking throughout the business without her mask on. The stylist assisting her wears her mask for the duration of the appointment.

Pelosi’s spokesman claims that Pelosi followed the rules of the establishment. He claims she was the only patron allowed inside of the building at the time. However, the salon owner is livid. Salons in San Francisco have been barred from opening in the last 6 months. They are limited only recently to servicing customers outdoors – and blow-outs are a firm no-no. For this particular salon, where they specialize in hair coloring, the use of the chemicals outside is prohibited. With this, they remain closed.

Businesses are closing permanently due to prolonged COVID restrictions, leaving millions of Americans without livelihoods. But it would really be too much to ask of Pelosi to forfeit her personal right to have her hair done – or allow businesses to reopen to all of their customers.

Philly Mayor Jim Kenney Under Fire

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney has earned his own furious constituents after photos of him surfaced at a friend’s restaurant in Maryland on Sunday. Kenney is seen dining indoors, despite indoor dining at restaurants in Philadelphia being closed since March. Once again, freedom and normalcy are only for the rich and influential. The rest of the world will have to wait until it’s “safe.”

De Blasio: No to Freedom, Yes to Protests

NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio was firm in his COVID shutdowns earlier in the year; he warned the Jewish community that funerals for their loved ones would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He was also adamant that protests against the shutdowns were not allowed, suggesting online rallies instead.

“We’re not allowing any kind of gathering, period,” the mayor said at a press briefing. “I don’t care if it’s 20 people or a hundred people or a thousand people, it’s not going to be allowed. So the point is, if you gather, NYPD is coming there to give you a summons and if you resist, to arrest you, period, across all communities.

“So no, of course this organization is not allowed to hold a rally that goes against every rule we’ve got. They can express themselves online. There’s all sorts of other ways, but if they attempt to hold a rally, they will be summonsed immediately, and that’s true for people of any viewpoint. We’re not doing rallies at this point. They spread the disease and help to kill people. It’s unacceptable,” he said in May.

However, he quickly changed his tune to allow protests against racial inequality and police brutality.

“I want to just say to anyone who wants to protest, we’re going to protect your right to protest, but please also respect [that] the cop in front of you did not create the problem,” de Blasio told listeners on The Brian Lehrer Show on WNYC radio just weeks later.

NYC has been hit especially hard with riots and looting, with many people fleeing the city in fear.

Lori Lightfoot Continues to Embarrass Chicago

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot continues to embarrass and undermine her city by banning protests on her block, which is heavily guarded by Chicago PD.

“I think that residents of this city, understanding the nature of the threats that we are receiving on a daily basis, on a daily basis, understand I have a right to make sure that my home is secure,” Lightfoot said, according to the Chicago Tribune.

But her residents do not have the same rights to make sure their homes are secure.

Protests and riots have been allowed throughout Chicago for months.

Democratic Leaders Have Chosen Anarchy Over Community

Rather than embrace their communities, allow their constituents to get back to work, and end the economic crisis sweeping the nation, Democratic leaders have chosen to allow anarchy and mass destruction in their communities that are already suffering greatly.

A number of cities, including San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Oakland, Milwaukee, Denver, Durham, Winston-Salem, Chicago, New York City, and D.C. have bowed to protestors’ demands and call for police reform and budget cuts.

And yet they have pushed back on reopening institutions that build their communities rather than destroy it.

If this were really about health, these Democrats would be at home bathing in hand sanitizer like many frightened Americans are. Instead, this is about politics. It's also about how long Americans can be kept under their thumbs while they do as they please.
