A currently sitting U.S. Congress member says Democrats “rely” on the legacy media not reporting on the increasingly alarming human rights problem at the southern border. This issue undermines the standing of President Joe Biden among voters more than any other matter.
As per Republican Rep. Ronny Jackson (TX), the Democratic Party believes people will stop talking about the border crisis because they will get the media to stop talking about it. He added that the said party relies on mainstream media ignoring the issue and that this would make the problem go away.
The Biden administration has made a great effort to fend off the border issue by using the word “challenge” to describe the crisis. They also limited the leaks of photos or videos from inside detention facilities. They made an effort to avoid releasing anything that would generate coverage by the media of the crisis.
Democrats Think Crisis Will Go Away if the Media Doesn’t Cover It
Vice President Kamala Harris, who was meant to oversee the border crisis, continued to avoid visiting the area two months after being assigned the role.
According to Jackson, Harris avoided the Rio Grande because the crisis has become disastrous. He said the vice president doesn’t want anything to do with the crisis.
The same goes for the media. Following years of covering “kids in cages,” legacy media abruptly turned a blind eye to the rapid influx of illegal immigration to the United States. They also refused to cover the response of Border Patrol and Homeland security. This comes even though 43% of the people in the country believe the media have not spent enough time to cover the crisis, as per Pew Research.
Around 68% of Americans, which includes 39% of Democrats, believe the current admin has done a “very” or “somewhat bad” job in terms of handling illegal immigration.
