John McCain Declares War On Trump

• John McCain has launched an attack on Trump after his comments on the Muslim American Khan family.
• The Veterans of Foreign Wars have demanded an apology from Trump.
• It looks like, after this recent verbal assault, that the Republican Party has lost their hope in Trump's presidential capabilities.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars have launched an outright attack on Donald Trump, and John McCain is at the helm. In recent news, Trump has been getting flak for scrutinizing the Muslim American parents of an Army officer who was killed in 2004.

However, much to the Trump political way, the Republican nominee refuses to let up on his verbal attacks. In fact, one former aide even went as far as to say that if Trump had been the president at the time of the soldier's death, the officer would still be alive. 

This marks the largest military “revolt” against Trump to date. With John McCain, a chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee and a Vietnam War veteran, steering the ship along with the 1.7 million members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Trump is in for a fight.

Trump has always been known as one that speaks his mind and, ui, it gets him into trouble. The Republican Party, almost as a rule, sees the candidate as a loose canon that cannot be controlled. Yet, with this latest tearing of the seams, Trump may be isolating himself too much. This is a pivotal point in the President election. Only four months remain until the final showdown. It's important that Trump focuses on building his party into a position of power. He can't suffer the consequences of his words or public scornings anymore. Now is the time for politics.

John McCain, who is a well-respected figure in the Republican Party released a written statement condemning the actions of the Republican candidate. 

“In recent days, Donald Trump disparaged a fallen soldier’s parents. He has suggested that the likes of their son should not be allowed in the United States — to say nothing of entering its service. I cannot emphasize enough how deeply I disagree with Mr. Trump’s statement. I hope Americans understand that the remarks do not represent the views of our Republican Party, its officers, or candidates. While our party has bestowed upon him the nomination, it is not accompanied by unfettered license to defame those who are the best among us.”

McCain was not the only one to release a statement, speaking out against Trump's actions. The newly elected commander-in-chief of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Brian Duffy, stated that the organization “will not tolerate anyone berating a Gold Star family member for exercising his or her right of speech or expression. There are certain sacrosanct subjects that no amount of wordsmithing can repair once crossed.”

Pual Ryan, a frequent bickering partner of Trump's, the Speaker of the House expressed support for the Khan family and, once again, expressed his opposition to the Muslim ban that Trump has before mentioned. The Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell also went out in public to offer his support for the Khans. However, neither one mentioned Trump (by name) or dropped their endorsement of the candidate.

A string of television interviews by the Khan family, as well as speaking at the DNC has made this incident a nation-wide event. Khizr Khan told NBC's Today, “This candidate amazes me — his ignorance. He can get up and malign the entire nation — the religions, the communities, the minorities, the judges. And yet, a private citizen in this political process, in his candidacy for the stewardship for this country — I cannot say what I feel? That proves the point: He has not read the Constitution of this country.”

Of course, Trump made his own statement on Saturday. He said, “While I feel deeply for the loss of his son, Mr. Khan who has never met me, has no right to stand in front of millions of people and claim I have never read the Constitution, (which is false) and say many other inaccurate things.”

Corey Lewandowski, the former campaign manager for Trump, came to the aid of his former boss. He claimed that if Trump were President the Khan's son would still be alive today. He said, “Their son is a hero. And every person who has ever died fighting for our country and their families are heroes. The difference is, we’ve got 7,000 soldiers who died, $6 trillion wasted in wars overseas and, if Donald Trump was the president, we would never have had, and Captain Khan would be alive today.”

Family members of service members have now written letters to Trump saying that his comments about the Khan family were “repugnant” and have demanded an apology.

This all started when Trump supporters started spreading articles that accused Khizr Khan of being a member of the Muslim brotherhood who wants to advance sharia law. Of course, the Khan's denounced terrorism over the weekend. Ghazala Khan, Khizr's wife, said that Trump was ignorant about the Muslim faith. She said, “If he studied the real Islam and Koran, all the ideas he gets from terrorists would change because terrorism is a different religion.”
