Officers from the Portland Police Bureau have arrested five people connected to violent protests in the city. Antifa rioters had set fire close to the Justice Center and vandalized several business establishments in the area.

As per the police bureau’s written statement, rioters pushed a garbage dumpster against the Justice Center at around 9:13 p.m. local time. It added that the protesters tried to start a fire in the said dumpster. Many people approached the building while holding umbrellas in an effort to limit actions and movements.

Law enforcement reports that the violent rioters tried to pry open the Justice Center doors at the north side of the building. They also assaulted officers with frozen water or glass bottles, eggs, and even metal spikes. Mortar-style fireworks were also used to attack law enforcement officers who responded.

The Antifa rioters wore all back and carried with them black umbrellas. This set off smoke bombs so that the rioters’ activities would be obscured.

Apart from the Justice Center, they also attacked business buildings, as well as the city hall.
