U.S. Agrees to $735 Million Weapons Sale to Israel as Nation Deals with Palestinian Terror Attacks-ss-Featured

On Monday, the United States approved a sale of weapons to Israel worth $735 million. This comes as Israel battled against terror attacks from Palestinians for more than a week.

Congress was notified about the said sale a few days ago. It would focus on Israel obtaining special munitions and precision missiles from the U.S.

President Joe Biden’s administration has begun efforts to stop the fighting in Gaza between Israel and the Palestinian terrorist groups. This comes even as the former increased pressure and began inflicting grave damage against terrorists who have fired over 3,100 rockets towards Israel.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken tweeted, saying that he spoke with Egypt’s Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Shoukry. He also said they discussed the ongoing violence that’s happening in Israel, West Bank, and Gaza. Bliken then added that every involved party should deescalate tensions and that violence needs to immediately end.

Mike Pompeo, the former U.S. Secretary of State and CIA director, also tweeted about the matter. He claimed that the current administration had distanced itself from Israel through its attempts to revive the Iran deal. He also stated that the U.S. needs to remain strong and continue defending its allies.

Israel Weapons Sale Follow Country's Retaliation Against Palestinian Terrorists

The weapons sale follows Israel retaliating against the Palestinian terrorists over the weekend, blowing up underground tunnels and confronting them by targeting their homes.

According to The Jerusalem Post, Hassam Abu-Arbid, the Senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander, has been killed from an Israeli airstrike on Monday in the northern Gaza Strip. The rockets that have been shot from a blockaded enclave were then fired towards communities in southern Israel. As per the IDF, Abu-Arbid was killed during a joint operation with the Shin bet intelligence services. The said commander led the terrorist organization’s brigade at the northern Gaza Strip. He was also behind the firing of rockets and guided anti-tank missiles aimed at Israel.

The IDF strike comes as the terrorists from Palestine have shot over 3,100 rockets, targeting Israel, over the past few days. Around 450 of these rockets fell within Gaza. In a 20-minute attack, the IDF also destroyed 9 miles of tunnels that these terrorists use. The strike involved 54 fighter jets dropping over 100 precision bombs.
