The FBI has Hunter Biden’s laptop, and the top brass at the bureau and the Justice Department believe it's legit.

Fox News reported Wednesday that FBI and Justice Department officials are siding the Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe’s assessment that the laptop is not connected to any Russian disinformation campaign against Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. The investigative agencies won’t comment on an active investigation, as is their standard policy. However, the report weakens the credibility of Democrats and media outlets who openly dismissing and burying the story.

Denying Legitimacy

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff | U.S. Intelligence Sees No Evidence of Russian Role in Hunter Biden Email Scandal

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) denied the legitimacy of the materials during a television appearance. This happened shortly after the New York Post broke the Hunter Biden email story. Schiff told the interviewer that someone planted the laptop at the computer repair store as part of a Russian disinformation campaign.

“We know that this whole smear on Joe Biden comes from the Kremlin,” Schiff said. “That's been clear for well over a year now that they've been pushing this false narrative about this vice president and his son.”

Joe Biden also raised a similar defense when a reporter asked him abvout the incident during a media session outside the former vice-president’s private jet after a campaign stop in Michigan. The meeting came several days after the laptop story broke. However, up until then, no one from the media had asked Biden about the scandal. This comes several public appearances and a town hall meeting moderated by ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos

“Mr. Biden, what is your response to the New York Post story about your son, sir?” asked CBS reporter Bo Erickson.

Biden responded aggressively to the question. “I know you’d ask it,” Biden snapped. “I have no response, it’s another smear campaign, right up your alley, those are the questions you always ask.”

However, Democrats seem to have no basis for their claims. Additionally, the Biden campaign hasn’t officially denied the authenticity of the materials. Despite this seemingly disingenuous narrative, the mainstream media seems to have no issue crushing the story and furthering liberal misinformation.

A Response

Intelligence Director Ratliffe recently made a television appearance to respond to the Democrat’s claims. “It’s funny that some of the people who complain the most about intelligence being politicized are the ones politicizing the intelligence,” Ratcliffe said during an appearance on Fox News. “Unfortunately, it is Adam Schiff who said the intelligence community believes the Hunter Biden laptop and emails on it are part of a Russian disinformation campaign.”

“Let me be clear: the intelligence community doesn’t believe that because there is no intelligence that supports that. And we have shared no intelligence with Adam Schiff or any member of Congress.” Ratcliffe added that the Russian intelligence narrative is “simply not true” and sent a message to Schiff, “Don’t drag the intelligence community into this. Hunter Biden’s laptop is not part of some Russian disinformation campaign.”

Another unnamed senior federal law enforcement official also told Fox News reporters that the emails authentic. However, the FBI’s official stance on the matter came via a letter to Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Chairman Ron Johnson (R-WI), who is investigating Hunter Biden’s business dealings and the laptop. The FBI said it has “nothing to add at this time to the October 19th public statement by the Director of National Intelligence about the available actionable intelligence.”

Going to Great Lengths

Democrats and their media allies seem content to give the Biden family a pass as long as they can get President Trump out of the White House. However, the Russian disinformation alibi has no legs. Therefore, they’ll have to come up with a more plausible story if they want to convince the majority of the American people that the emails aren’t legitimate.

The election is less than two weeks away. Most national polls put Biden ahead of the president. Although, his lead is slipping in key battleground states like Florida and North Carolina.
