Less than 24 hours after two LA County deputies were shot in the head, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden called for gun control.
Fox News reported that the deputies “were critically wounded in Compton after a gunman opened fire on their squad car in an apparent ambush.”
“Weapons of war have no place in our communities,” Biden wrote on Twitter. “We need to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines,” he also mentioned.
According to Biden, anyone who commits an act of violence “should be caught and punished.”
Reports explain that Trump’s comments were in “stark contrast” to Biden’s, as Trump calls for a “fast trial” and the death penalty for the “animal” who did the attack.
“Animals that must be hit hard!” Trump tweeted, talking about criminals who aim at law enforcement.

“If [the deputies] die, fast trial death penalty for the killer. Only way to stop this!” Trump then wrote later on.
According to The Daily Mail, the gunman was still at large on Monday after the female deputy, 31, and the male deputy, 24, underwent surgery on Saturday evening.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva also said the victims are expected to recover.
“They performed in an admirable fashion in spite of grave adversity,” Villanueva said. “God bless them.”
The deputies were shot while they were sitting in their patrol car at a Metro rail station.
“The gunman walked up on the deputies and opened fire without warning or provocation,” the department said.
