A woman reportedly sprayed a Walmart employee in the eyes with Lysol disinfectant.

“Leicester PD is attempting to identify the female in the attached photograph for an ADW that occurred on 3/27 at Walmart,” a Facebook post by the Leicester Police Department stated. The cashier reportedly informed the suspect about the limited number of Lysol disinfectant each person can buy. In turn, the suspect chose to respond by spraying Lysol towards the cashier's eyes.

“She then completed her purchase and left in what is believed to have been an Uber,” the post added.

The incident reportedly took place at the town’s Walmart on March 27th. Paramedics arrived at the store to treat the cashier after the incident.

The Facebook post included an image of the suspect and urged anyone with information to inform officers.

Customer and Staff Protection

Fox News explains that “Walmart and other stores have limited the number of Lysol products and other basic cleaning supplies people can purchase because of high demand during the coronavirus pandemic.”

Newsweek reported that Walmart has taken the necessary measures to protect its staff and customers during the pandemic. This includes “closing stores overnight for cleaning and restocking” the stores. It also includes “installing sneeze guards and markers to help people practice social distancing” while in the establishment.

The company has also extended paid leave policies. It also started implementing temperature checks and providing masks and gloves to their staff.

“In this taxing and uncertain time, our associates have gone above and beyond to help Americans get the food, medicine, and supplies they need,” said Dacona Smith, the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Walmart U.S.

“While many of our customers have been following the advice of the medical community regarding social distancing and safety, we have been concerned to still see some behaviors in our stores that put undue risk on our people.”
